Can it really be the case that we have a Pope who is a White Sox fan (and maybe a Costco card holder—and possibly, according to one early report—a registered Republican)? I can see it now: his case for canonization someday will be the miracle of reviving the White Sox, who are currently dueling with the Colorado Rockies to be the worst team in MLB. It will take a miracle for the Sox.
But I digress. We never have much to go on with new Popes, but it doesn’t seem coincidental that Pope John Paul II was elevated just when the fortunes in the Cold War began to turn toward Western victory; Francis—the first non-European Pope ever—arrived when the second thoughts about globalization were starting to build. Is is purely a coincidence that Pope Leo XIV arrives coincident to the world-historical figure of Donald Trump?

He’s also written on Bayesian statistics:
Okay, here are indicators that he may be a Francis-style “progressive,” mostly from his many retweets:
On the other hand, he’s been head of the Augustinian order, which might be promising. And then there’s this:
And finally. . .
Stay tuned. . .
Looking forward to hearing if Lucretia has any opinion of the new Pope during this week's podcast. Then again, since it is purportedly a family show perhaps all I would hear is beep beep beep
