Its been obvious for a long time now that the reason Obama basically nationalized student loans was so that colleges could jack up tuition so they could afford to hire an vast army of ideological bureacrats. Its amazing what kind of money laundering and law breaking the democrats get away with. Some of their scams are more cleaver than others. Its also amazing how useless the Republicans and the Supreme Court are at stopping them.
Whatever Republicans won't stop, they want to continue, especially if they get a piece of the action. Many are Trey Gowdy-like reptiles who talk a lot and do zilch.
Using its broad powers, the Federal Government is cutting funding for universities that coddle antisemites. Many departments, particularly in the hard sciences and engineering, are not part of that problem, but still bear the brunt of these cuts. I would expect them and their constituencies to lean as best they can on the administrators who caused this problem by indifference to, or support of, antisemitic activities on campus. As for the other departments: if they're woke, they support anything bad.
Other Federal cuts are part of the effort to abolish or diminish agencies that fund trash research. such as most ethnic studies. The people doing or managing such work don't deserve much sympathy from us.
The hard sciences have been largely colonized and conquered by the DEI tsunami, and that's where their big bucks are going - for administrators, who write oh-so-woke diatribes to bamboozle the public into thinking that any doctor of a 'protected' color will do your heart replacement just as well as an unprotected one who entered the University with top entrance exam scores.
A New Yorker cartoon years ago showed a USDA employee sobbing onto his desk while another standing by explained to a third, "He just found out his farmer died."
Today it could be a university administrator learning her student dropped out.
I've encountered no small number of dubious faculty over the years, but in my experience it is student life administrators seeking to extend their fiefdoms that are the bigger blight on higher education. I doubt even half of those jobs would be seen as worthwhile from any sort of independent audit where the fix wasn't already in.
"no one comes to Yale for its administration". Spot on.

I beg to disagree. Great universities have layers and layers of administration. See Socrates. I hear Elon will soon leave his DOGE job. Maybe he is available?
I never liked university administrators or their minions. A sanctimonious group, if there ever was one. Along time ago with a couple of masters' degrees under my belt I returned to my undergraduate university to pursue a PhD, while working a fulltime job as a highly placed state financial officer. I arrived to about 30 minutes before the enrollment process began because I had to drive back to work. The enrollment folks arrived just before 9:00 AM. At which point they all disappeared for 10-15 minutes to get their coffee and donuts. I was third in line. When I sat down to talk to the lady she said: "what can I do to help you sonny?" Good customer service said I to myself!, sort of..
Hear, hear! It's a decade beyond the time to end the endless hiring of DEI 'administrators' for more than real professors make. Go Yale faculty! They've seen the light!
Universities have devolved into little more than bloated, self-serving bureaucracies that repudiate every ethic of actual education. Real teachers despair; how many of today's "professors" are just riding an activist gravy train? Student enlightenment comes last, indoctrination comes first.

Trey Gowdy-like reptiles?
Sources Please.
How many times did you wait in vain for Gowdy to follow up his rough, tough questioning with Congressional action?
1. Know much about how politics works? Apparently not.
2. (I closely paraphrase) "Unless the witnesses have been deposed before hand, its nothing but a dog & pony show." Rep. Trey Gowdy
So you learned Nothing about what He was investigating?
3. And Your solution is...What?
4. Ever considered this is why he left?
5 I missed the part where you gave sources was reptilian.
Have a nice day.
Always Do
Something to watch for:

Well, they gotta have a gimmick. When the climate change mantra fails to attract bucks, they may revert to their better selves.
They have better selves?
Maybe they were once more idealistic, practical, or something.
RAM,
"or something"?
My MIT engineering professors in Course 3 were real leaders in their field. Here, John W. Cahn explains the nature of scientific investigation:

Current professors have had to play the game, but have their virtues, too.
A New Yorker cartoon years ago showed a USDA employee sobbing onto his desk while another standing by explained to a third, "He just found out his farmer died."

That’s encouraging. And surprisingly well-written! ( missing so many buzzwords and shibboleths)
However methinks a faculty led investigation is suspect. Even war-like.
I’d rather see a DOGE Consulting Team do the work. Hee hee.
THEN invoke a similar effort towards balancing content and viewpoints at the tenured faculty level … now that would be an amazing transformation.

Sounds old the faculty want to DOGE the university administration. 😁

Nevva happen. The administrators do what most of the faculty wants.

Independent faculty led investigation? Yeah, that’s really independent.
