First, it chills me that about half the country loves Fraudci and think he did the right thing. They are more scared of conservatives than they are of a government that shoots paintballs at you if you come out on your porch and arrests you if you go to church or have a barbeque.

The second thing that discussion of the Wuhan Panic does to my mind is to make me wonder how far they will take this next time they try it. They might think that's a good way to rid themselves of the troublesome people.

Francis Collins’ role in the Covid debacle was a real disappointment to me. He had been an effective voice in countering popular writers like Richard Dawkins and Carl Sagan who maintained that science and religion were incompatible. Collins was both an accomplished scientist and an unapologetic Christian. I found his book “The Language of God” enlightening.
His conspiratorial liaisons with the execrable Fauci were, as I say, a major disappointment, and my respect for the man took a nosedive.

The 2020/2021 ski season, where standing in the lift line OUTDOORS a face covering of any type was required under threat of revocation of day pass and/or annual ski pass. This was very strictly enforced by the minimum wage “liftee” attendant. Let’s just say from day one of the season the unmasked crotchety old time skiers used their first amendment right to express where the attendant can put his mask. No passes were ever revoked.
In 2020 in Montana, the term limited Democrat Governor who was running for the US Senate directed the state health department to sue 5 bars and restaurants, due to noncompliance of their employees enforcing the “mask while you walk to the table” rule. These were businesses that had been shut down for a period, reopened with fewer customers, and struggling to remain a viable business …. and now faced with legal fees and bankruptcy due to “health code” violations. (The good news is the next governor — Republican BTW — quickly settled the lawsuit with the state paying their legal costs.)
I — and many others — personally learned to sip cups of coffee during entire plane flights as an excuse to keep my feed bag … err, I mean face mask …. down. Never underestimate human ingenuity.
Remember that glorious day when a District Court judge threw out the CDC’s requirement of masks on public travel? The judge determined that masks did not meet the CDC’s legal requirement of “sanitize”. The Brandon administration never lifted that mask requirement — a judge did! And you certainly must recall the death and destruction that immediately followed afterwards as that lack of masks on public transportation caused massive superspreader events throughout the country, right? ….. or as I recall there was no superspreader event thus proving “scientifically” the masks had no effect. As a side note, was there ever really a so called superspreader event?
Worst was locking OUTDOOR tennis courts and closing off outdoor playgrounds where the sun would naturally disinfect anything that happened to land on the equipment.
Boise locked tennis courts. Meridian directly adjacent kept theirs open. No one got Covid and died from playing on a Meridian tennis court.
Early in the '20 panic we were informed by no less a source than the New York Times that the Wuhan Flu had moved west and "decimated" the Iranian Parliament. I was surprised by that, not that Iran had a pretend "parliament" but that one in ten Iranian pretend parliamentarians had succumbed to the flu bug.

I remember that in June of 2020 Governor Gavin promised that he would, within two weeks, release the scientific evidence that proved masks were necessary to prevent Covid from destroying all life on Earth. We are still waiting for the release of that 'evidence'.
Gavin tried very hard to release the scientific evidence about masks in a speech, but you really need to cut him some slack. It’s not that his hands are tied — he is quite literally tongue tied. In his own words he clearly stated:

Some of us knew Fauci was a monstrous fraud well before a few entries in the girlish Fauci diary was made public. We the People can handle the truth. So what is really happening here? Doctor Fauci never spoke the truth nor did he share the least bit of “social distancing” with science…he was always sixty miles away from science but six centimeters away from leftist politics. He’s the face of the Administrative State. And he’s in favor of replacing We the People with a nation of…well…Anthony Lucido put it well: Sheep too fearful to leave their pens because of the pen of Fauci. Fauci's weasel-voice tossed gasoline on the fires of public panic in '20. And his voice was amplified a thousand times by the Times and the rest of the “mainstream media.”
I give Rand Paul credit. He got Fauci to break the record set by mob bosses on the number of times the little man “took the Fifth,” by my count 123. Even if Fauci’s mouthy attorney had been allowed to remain inside the hearing room, Fauci's plan was to give the middle finger to the middle class. And, quite honestly, the tactic appears to be working. Nothing will happen to Fauci although I expect some sternly-worded letters out of some Congresspeople. And the wait is on amongst the members of the Administrative State. The Trump years are ending and soon the administrators can get back to their high-level, full-bore unconstitutional rulemaking.
Guys like Reagan and Trump come and go but the Administrative State remains…Fauci, though old, still is at large, living large.
I always hate to give credit to a Cheesehead, but Aaron Rodgers, now quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, really let rip on Fauci and ESPN, one of the many media sources that propped-up Fauci. I know that actors, singers and football players should just “Shut up and act, sing and fumble footballs,” but what a pleasure to see and hear Fauci ripped in a public forum. What a contrast to the days of “two weeks to flatten the curve.” We the People did not know how powerful the Administrative State had become. Oh well…right now I’m watching TV…no not a Matlock re-run, an old movie: “A Face in the Crowd” by auteur Elia Kazan. It’s about a man who gets too full of himself and then has a great fall.
But I paused the film because I never miss a Wednesday morning Sir Anthony of Mayo column. And this one was as good as ever.
Aaron Rodgers is a weird guy, but I like him simply because he refuses to know his place and accept the approved narratives. The left wing sports media (but I repeat myself) began to hate Rodgers when he had the temerity to question everything about the Covid lockdown lunacy. I couldn't care less what his politics are. He's his own man. That's exceedingly rare these days.

Now that was a funny column, but I'm not laughing because discussion of the Wuhan Panic always brings two facts to my grumpy mind. First, it chills me that about half the country loves Fraudci and think he did the right thing. More chillingly, I'd guess a majority of that group KNOWS AND KNEW he was lying, but went along to rid themselves of that troublesome Trump. They are more scared of conservatives than they are of a government that shoots paintballs at you if you come out on your porch and arrests you if you go to church or have a barbeque.
If you take "safety first" to its logical conclusion, we all go to prison. A lion in a cage is safer than one on the Serengeti.
The second thing that discussion of the Wuhan Panic does to my mind is to make me wonder how far they will take this next time they try it. I can see them releasing - or manufacturing - an actually deadly virus, knowing that conservatives and others who think for themselves will not trust what is said and will avoid treating the virus. They might think that's a good way to rid themselves of the troublesome people.
I sometimes wonder if "Covid" was a result of work to find a virus that kills the elderly but leaves the young alone. That would solve China's problem with the aftermath of the "one child" policy, as well as helping Social Security to remain solvent.
Is there anything that Communists won't do to grab and hold power? A lot of Cambodians, Russians, and Chinese would say "no", but they're not talking any more. They've Trotskyied right outta here.
At its heart, the absurd Covid hysteria, if not Covid itself, was a collective anti-Trump reelection production. All the hive minds knew exactly how they could contribute. Throw as many monkey wrenches into the gears of our economy, civil society & elections as possible.

I've often posed the counterfactual this way: Imagine if it had been Hillary Clinton running for reelection (2d term) in the spring of 2020. Does anyone actually believe they would have wrecked the economy for Covid? Of course they wouldn't have. Fact is the entire federal bureaucracy and media knew that Trump was probably cruising to reelection and had to be stopped. Wrecking the economy, ginning up massive riots and messing with elections, put together, was just the ticket.

Decades later, when she had perished (not making this up and not sorry) when she got hit by a train while drunk driving, I wrote a Valentine poem to her which is the Paranoid Texan Next Door's favorite thing I have ever written:

So the owner put a message on my windshield that said, “You park here again, and I’ll have you towed”… so being my teenage self, I posted a reply on the back that said,

If you tow my car
I’ll burn your store down
I continued to park there, and never had a problem.

Francis Collins’ role in the Covid debacle was a real disappointment to me. He had been an effective voice in countering popular writers like Richard Dawkins and Carl Sagan who maintained that science and religion were incompatible. Collins was both an accomplished scientist and an unapologetic Christian. I found his book “The Language of God” enlightening.
His conspiratorial liaisons with the execrable Fauci were, as I say, a major disappointment, and my respect for the man took a nosedive.
As for his singing and guitar playing, the less said the better.

Certainly everyone can cite their most ludicrous covid mitigation experience they personally experienced. A couple of winners …
Masks filter the virus. They are biohazards after use. Dispose of used ones, and wash hands thoroughly after touching them to prevent the spread. Also Gavin of the Newson Bull tribe instruction to pull your mask down for each bite and then pull it back up.
The 2020/2021 ski season, where standing in the lift line OUTDOORS a face covering of any type was required under threat of revocation of day pass and/or annual ski pass. This was very strictly enforced by the minimum wage “liftee” attendant. Let’s just say from day one of the season the unmasked crotchety old time skiers used their first amendment right to express where the attendant can put his mask. No passes were ever revoked.
In 2020 in Montana, the term limited Democrat Governor who was running for the US Senate directed the state health department to sue 5 bars and restaurants, due to noncompliance of their employees enforcing the “mask while you walk to the table” rule. These were businesses that had been shut down for a period, reopened with fewer customers, and struggling to remain a viable business …. and now faced with legal fees and bankruptcy due to “health code” violations. (The good news is the next governor — Republican BTW — quickly settled the lawsuit with the state paying their legal costs.)
I — and many others — personally learned to sip cups of coffee during entire plane flights as an excuse to keep my feed bag … err, I mean face mask …. down. Never underestimate human ingenuity.
Remember that glorious day when a District Court judge threw out the CDC’s requirement of masks on public travel? The judge determined that masks did not meet the CDC’s legal requirement of “sanitize”. The Brandon administration never lifted that mask requirement — a judge did! And you certainly must recall the death and destruction that immediately followed afterwards as that lack of masks on public transportation caused massive superspreader events throughout the country, right? ….. or as I recall there was no superspreader event thus proving “scientifically” the masks had no effect. As a side note, was there ever really a so called superspreader event?
Worst was locking OUTDOOR tennis courts and closing off outdoor playgrounds where the sun would naturally disinfect anything that happened to land on the equipment.
Boise locked tennis courts. Meridian directly adjacent kept theirs open. No one got Covid and died from playing on a Meridian tennis court.
Early in the '20 panic we were informed by no less a source than the New York Times that the Wuhan Flu had moved west and "decimated" the Iranian Parliament. I was surprised by that, not that Iran had a pretend "parliament" but that one in ten Iranian pretend parliamentarians had succumbed to the flu bug.
How many American "parliamentarians" died in the panic? Yes, that's right: None.
Now granted, America lost beloved actor Tom Hanks when he caught the flu in Australia and perished but...old people dying of old age in old folks homes became the standard "death from Covid" aside from a few fatalities involving motorcycle accidents.
And yet we played along and allowed the excuse of a pesky flu bug to completely alter our method of voting. We now have voting months using junkmail procedures, no election day, no requirements for I.D. other than those a twelve-year-old could rig, and we have vote-counting weeks, in some states vote-counting months.
We were played.
My second least favorite. Edict 187 from Tim "Little Red Book" Walz:
Churches are allowed to be open but only at ten percent capacity. They must follow the masking and social distance rules as covered by previous edicts.
And there can be no choirs...they can gather six feet apart in the parking lot but they cannot sing. So much for the Bill of Rights.
My least favorite: It's heathful for people to gather in packed crowds without any masks if they are mourning the death of George Floyd.
It's a known fact that arson in mostly peaceful rallies will burn not just black-owned businesses and Uncle Hugo's Bookstore, but it will also burn off the COVID cooties. Plus you forgot that racism was a "health" issue, just like killing babies is a women's health issue.
Covid cooties...I forgot about them.
By the by, mostly-peaceful riots kill off a lot of things, especially legitimate businesses of all types.
But Learing Centers flourish in that environment.
"Covid" was spread by cooties! If only we'd known that males were immune, because we all learned in elementary school that it's girls who have cooties.
In California outdoor, drive-in, church services where people remained in their cars with the windows rolled up were banned.
That, of course, is because edicts from the governor and Anthony Fauci supercede the U.S. and California constitutions which guarantee freedom of religion.

But also consider some of the very positive aspects of policies enacted in the name of protecting everyone’s health! Liquor stores were not subject to lockdowns and remained open!! Restaurants, which rely on alcohol sales to subsidize their food sales, were forced to only provide take out service including alcohol beverages, so “for your health” open carry of alcohol while driving became legal!

I remember that in June of 2020 Governor Gavin promised that he would, within two weeks, release the scientific evidence that proved masks were necessary to prevent Covid from destroying all life on Earth. We are still waiting for the release of that 'evidence'.

Gavin tried very hard to release the scientific evidence about masks in a speech, but you really need to cut him some slack. It’s not that his hands are tied — he is quite literally tongue tied. In his own words he clearly stated:

It is a rare moment that I totally agree with poor Gavin, especially when he says “I’m not trying to impress you” and “I’m no better than you”. Truly the understatements of the year.
