“California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Governor Gavin Newsom today announced a new online portal to assist members of the public in sharing information with the California Department of Justice regarding potentially unlawful activity by federal agents and officers across the state,” reads a December 2 press release from attorney general Bonta. This isn’t the first time the Bay Area Democrat has unleashed the snoops.
Back in 2021 Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1084, which mandates that large retail department stores that sell childcare items or toys must maintain a “gender-neutral” section for these items or face fines. “By requiring large retailers to maintain a gender-neutral section,” Bonta’s office explains, “AB 1084 makes it more difficult for these retailers to engage in gender-based pricing discrimination and reduces the imposition of gender stereotypes on children.” In support of this cause, the attorney general recruits shoppers as informants.
“If you do not see an adequate gender-neutral product section in a large retail department store in California that you believe is covered by this law,” Bonta advised, “you may take pictures, document and file a complaint with our office at oag.ca.gov/report.” While promoting toy vigilance, California’s attorney general has looked the other way at matters far more serious.
In late 2022, Reedley, California, code inspector Jesalyn Harper discovered an illegal bio-lab in a vacant warehouse. Inside Harper found three women who identified themselves as People’s Republic of China (PRC) nationals wearing masks, glasses and latex gloves. Local officials found nearly 1,000 bio-engineered mice, vials of blood, and samples of infectious diseases including malaria, E. coli, chlamydia, and Covid. The covert lab also housed highly flammable chemicals.
In August, 2023 Bonta told reporters, “So as we learn more, we’ll be able to get our arms around the fact to determine if there’s any criminal violation.” Bonta never found any but that year announced a $5 million settlement with Quest Diagnostics, which “unlawfully disposed of hazardous waste, medical waste, and protected health information at its facilities statewide.” According to Newsom’s AG, there were likely more illegal labs that “exist or existed,” but he never specifically asked the people to “share information” on them in the style of politically incorrect toys or federal agents.
As a member of the California Assembly, Bonta was the prime mover of AB 2088, the California Wealth Tax, which, had it passed, would have slapped a 0.4 percent tax on the portion of a taxpayer’s net worth that exceeded $30 million. AB 2088 would have taxed Californians 90 percent of their in-state levy in the first year after they left the state and 80 percent in the second year, phasing out over a decade. Rob Bonta, a Yale law alum, thought it was legal to tax Californians for ten years after they left the state, which they are now doing in droves.
Gov. Gavin “Getty Bucks” Newsom transformed California from a destination state to a place people want to leave. Newsom wants to be president of the United States and Rob Bonta would doubtless be his pick for attorney general. So as Fleetwood Mac says, don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.

Of course, he didn'treally think that, any more than he thinks states can enforce laws overruling federal law.
At some point, ignoring the Constitution crosses the line into criminality. The Democrats have long since become a criminal enterprise. They react the same way other criminals react to anyone who interferes with their enterprise.
