I think Professor Hayward has launched a meme movement. If you look through Substack these days, you will note quite a few meme posts. But for subtlety and sophistication, Professor Hayward holds the meme crown.
“We’re not worthy! We”re not worthy!” Thanks for the notice. I’ve appreciated your writing for quite a few years now. I always feel like I’ve learned something when reading your work. Between you and Professor Hansen, I feel like I’ve earned the equivalent of a modern Harvard degree. Enjoy the day!
I have to agree with you Stanley. This is one of those situations where I hit the post button, then reread it and thought, "that sounded better when I was typing it than the way it reads now"!
Well I’ve hit the jackpot today! Steve Hayward and Susan Voss (our beloved Ammo Grrrll) liked comments of mine on the same thread! Doesn’t get much better than this!
Feminist Glaciology? The gobbledygook in the quotation was so dense, my eyes glazed over while reading the first sentence. Dr. Hayward is a good example that higher education and its degrees need not turn the brain to mush. I’m still kicking around the idea that a big part of the Universities’ problems are not just the faculty but the students home environment. If you aren’t deeply committed to a religious faith, you don’t believe in nothing; but you will believe in anything, however divorced from reality. Dr Hayward says very little about himself, but enough slips through for me to think he has some deeply held, but very private, religious beliefs. A pity we live in an environment where one must self-censor. But then I self-censor as well since Utah’s predominant faith is held in contempt by nearly everyone.
James Lindsay, host of the New Discourses Podcast, gets asked all the time about what really got him started in his campaign against Woke Marxism. Invariably, the conversation includes a discussion of the Grievance Studies Affair, but what triggered that? Before the Grievance Studies Affair, there was “The Conceptual Penis as a Social Construct,” and before the Conceptual Penis, there was a real academic paper called “Glaciers, Gender, and Science: A Feminist Glaciology Framework for Global Environmental Change Research” by four researchers from the University of Oregon, writing on a significant National Science Foundation grant. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, James revisits this paper and shares with you exactly what it says, now understood in great clarity. Join him to hear how he was “radicalized” to start fighting the Woke in a serious manner, in their own words.
Dr. Hayward is an adherent of the Orthodox Church, though I don't know whether Greek or Russian. He mentions it from time to time in his Three Whisky Happy Hour podcasts, which you should listen to if you don't already.
I've visited that Costco. The hot dog and soda, while a bargain, costs more than $1.50 in Iceland.
At this point, the Canadian Costco stores have the best deal on a hot dog and soda, since it's $1.50 there, but in Canadian dollars. Any cheaper and we could use Monopoly money.
Iceland is an amazing place. I spent four days there a couple of years ago, visited both sites pictured. There's water everywhere, some of it spewing out of the ground as geysers, some of it falling over cliffs as waterfalls. Many places where one vertical wall is the European plate, and a few dozen yards away is a second vertical wall, the North American plate.
I agree with Emily that Palpatine should be free. It's refreshing to have a glass of it over my human-ice interactions. Just don't let Boasberg and Van Hollen know that I'm very pleased about human-ICE interactions.

I believe Steven and VDH don’t deserve such an insult. 😂

Vass.
Hey, at least he'd pronounce it correctly.
Hanson.
The only "human-ice"interaction I engage in also involves gin.
Do you have any idea what she said? Before or after the gin
Glaciers are like feminists. They're both cold to sleep next to.

The parents who are paying for tuition at that school must be thrilled.
So I’m enjoying Iceland,
Volcano effected area of Grindavik. Here lava burnt a few houses back in 2024. Filmed 29.05.25

I visited Iceland when Costco opened a warehouse there in 2017. Reykjavik is beautiful, but it snowed briefly, in May!

Feminist Glaciology gives new meaning to the term Ice Queen.

Beware The Volcanoes!
The original and still the best!

Like any Marxist inspired science Feminist Glaciology is nothing but nonsense.
Those feminist glaciologists must be paid by the letter.
