California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently hosted Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, and took part in a peaceful exchange about women’s sports. Last week, Turning Point brought Brandon Tatum, author of Beaten Black and Blue: Being a Black Cop in an America Under Siege to UC Davis. A squad of campus blackshirts promptly assaulted Turning Point staff, overturned tables, destroyed camera gear and so forth. Kirk called UC Davis the “most militant school in the country, with the largest Antifa presence,” but there’s more to it.
UC Davis is also home to professor Joshua Clover, on record that police officers need to be killed, preferably by shooting them “when their backs are turned.” After the murder of Davis police officer Natalie Corona, Clover told a campus reporter “the most effective way to end any violence against officers is the complete and immediate abolition of the police,” and did not walk back his statements about wanting cops killed.
Clover specializes in “critical theory, Marxism, political theory,” along with “crisis theory and the end of capitalism.” UC Davis bosses claim to disagree with the professor’s views on the police but have no problem keeping the pasty faced poltroon on the faculty. For their part, local police have offered only mild protests.
A black cop like Tatum, or a former partner of Natalie Corona, could invite Clover to a podcast or set up a pay-per-view event to discuss matters up close and personal. Or, the cop could simply go on campus and tell Clover, “bring your chickenshit ass over here” and take care of business right there. Come to think of it, this should be a movie.
Black actors would doubtless enjoy smacking the fertilizer out of a white Stalinist who calls for cops to be killed. Perhaps the cop could throw down with some sociology major decked out in Antifa garb, or take on one of the anti-Semites in the Davis Popular University for the Liberation of Palestine (PULP), who cheer for the murder of Jews by any means necessary.
What’s going on at UC Davis now, as the prison captain (Strother Martin) said in Cool Hand Luke, is “failure to communicate.” At some point, you have to deal with these people in a way they understand.
That school needs an enema!
Is the school named for Angela Davis?
