God, I would love to have Lee Zeldin pursue national elective office. Politicians so often disappoint, but he seems like someone who is extremely smart with no b.s. through and through. Not an ideologue, just in possession of sensible ideas.

It's nice to have a selection of good potential candidates to choose from - DeSantis, Rubio, Zeldin, Vance (if he can scrape all the Tucker Carlson off the soles of his shoes...

Vance has a way to go and much to learn. His glibness is its own trap.

Patti B's avatar

Yes, Rubio is much more interesting now than he was in 2015-16. I like DeSantis as an administrator but he doesn't seem to rise to the national level. Vance seems too opportunistic and too impressed with himself. I like his wife, though--she must see more in him.

The idiots in our government (all 3 branches of every state & the feds) need to be taught like the elephant at the county fair. His handler posted a sign next to it stating: $10 if you can get the elephant to shake his head. A youngster came up holding a 2x4. He looked the elephant straight in the eyes and asked "Do you know what this is?" The elephant shook his head to indicate he didn't and then the boy smacked him upside his head. Man paid the boy the $10. A little later on, the boy came back with his 2x4 to see a sign stating:$10 if you can get the elephant to nod his head. The man told the boy "You can hit him with that stick again". So the boy held up the stick and said to the elephant "Do you know what this can do?" The elephant nodded yes. Boy got his $10. Just a while later he came back and the sign said: $10 if you can get the elephant to nod his head and shake his head right after. The man told the boy to put the stick down first. He did and then asked the elephant: Do you remember me?" Creature nodded. The boy then asked "Do you want me to pick up the stick and do it again". Elephant shook head. Boy got the $10 for the third time.MORAL: A 2X4 upside the head teaches lessons quicker than reading this joke. Pubbies need to learn from Zeldin how to wield a "proverbial" (or not) 2x4.

Oops. Can't hit him again.

At one time I thought of members of our House and Senate as generally bright people. Over the years I have seen repeatedly that they are less then mediocre intellects largely driven by an excessive ambition and greed. The few exceptions, most of whom are not brilliant or particularly unique individuals, stand out in contrast and seem statesman-like even when they are anything but statesmen in the classic sense. I would like to see just one political leader capable of writing his own speeches. I would love to see any politician who actually can answer a question on a controversial issue without jumping and jiving and looking for some out to avoid taking a real stand. That ridiculous hag who was addressing Zeldin is or should be an embarrassment to the entire House, and she would be if there were any more intellectually gifted than she is. Unfortunately, like hen's teeth, such are a rare to nonexistent commodity.

I’d like to see one senatewhore or congresswhore not have to read their questions. It’s pathetic that they do.

Eugene Kriegsmann's avatar

That is because they don’t write them. Their staff does. Just as they write their speeches.

Unwoke in Idaho's avatar

I know that. It’s obvious

A guest host from the TNT podcast? That would be ... unthink(ery)able.

Ah, you're very clever young man, but it's turtles all the way down!

She said "Climate change is flooding our streets" ..no, actually, in cities like Miami, the flooding is due to sinking land, as a result of human overuse of the water table,:

"poisoning our air ' -...that would be pollution, which is not due to a change in climate ;

"driving up the cost of health care"... that would come under "lack of affordability" which is due to the health care system being under the control of government mandates that funnel excessively high costs to the biggest and most profitable companies on the stock market.

Poor woman, all she has is knee-jerk talking points written by someone else, as Eugene commented earlier.

The level of ignorance among these people who are trying to keep their privilege and position is shocking. And Eugene said that too!

It bears repeating.

When I read "One thing I love about the Trump era is that it has finally gotten conservatives out of their long-time defensive crouch when the left attacks" all I could think was AMEN!

Boasberg and Clinesmith conspired to obstruct justice.

And nothing will happen to them. Shame, impeachment is a good way to attack.

All part of Obama's "fundamental change" and his pompous wife's reason to be proud of her country for the first time in her entitled life.

Does somebody pay Congressthings and Federal Judges to gift the nation with comic relief?

Tracy Thompson's avatar

It's only a gift if you indulge in black humor.

Steve's avatar

Yes. You make your contribution every payday and on April 15th to boot, probably.

What district does Rosa DeLauro represent, and what planet is it on? The Conehead planet, Remulak? ALF's planet, Melmac? Perhaps Talos IV? That last one — the only world in Star Trek placed under an absolute ban (visiting it is punishable by death under General Order 7) — is where DeLauro is from, am I right?

It was amazing that paperwork to spy on a CIA asset could/would be approved…. Thanks for reminding us it was Boasberg

Lucy Hair's avatar

Clinesmith (I think it was he) reached out to the CIA to inquire whether Carter Page was an asset, to which the CIA responded that he was; Clinesmith then altered the response to say that Page was NOT an asset. That is how the paperwork was approved, through a lie.
