Oh... and I jumped on this because I thought it was going to reveal something about my fave TV series. But I did get reminded that one can go even baser than a bass sax. Even if it's contra-versial.

You've inspired me, Lloyd. I have an offering at the bass altar. If you follow genius pianist Emmet Cohen's music youtubes, look up on YT his name followed by the name Scott Robinson. The latter is bass sax. He plays a fabulously romantic Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.

Lloyd, your knowledge of music is encyclopedic. Sometime today, while watching an NFL game on mute, I'll listen to all of the links, even to those with which I'm familiar. Thanks for the thematic representation.

My favorite saxophone part is on Moanin’ by Charles Mingus. The entire song is raucous and the sax is fantastic!

Wayne Shorter's soprano accompaniment on many pop/rock songs got me into jazz.

Sir: Have you found a recording of Pharaoh Sanders on the soprano horn? I still remember hearing him in Detroit in the late 60’s, maybe 69? He used tenor, and I think, soprano. Haven’t found any recordings, but hope springs eternal!

Check out Rory Gallagher in the band Taste. He plays alto and soprano at the same time.
