Steve's Diary: Weekend Prep Edition
Cheer up; things are no doubt going to get worse before they get worse
• Reminder that we’ll be livestreaming the 3WHH Podcast here at 3 pm PACIFIC time today, unless something comes up last minute, which sometimes happens, in which case I’ll update this post and flag it in the headline. There will also be a new Ricochet podcast up in a few hours.
• Busy week here. In case you missed it, I had a new piece out with our friends at Civitas Outlook mid-week arguing that Reagan was the original MAGA president, arguing against the hasty dismissal and sometimes even contempt of Reagan some of the younger MAGA folks have. And Civitas Outlook editor Richard Reinsch hosted me for a brief conversation about the piece:
• Also delighted to see that the National Affairs article on “Envy and Social Justice” that ‘Lucretia’ and I published together last spring was included in the “New Right Poast” Substack on “The 40 Based Reads of 2025.” We’re in some pretty good company, alongside Helen Andrews, N.S. Lyons, Oliver Traldi, and other worthies.
• While we’re flacking our wares, our podcast partner and occasional drop-in nuisance John Yoo wants Political Questions readers to be assured that all this talk about Trump violating international law with his Venezuela raid are talking perfect twaddle.
• While all eyes are on Minnesota, Venezuela, Greenland (has the invasion started yet?), and Iran, President Trump this week withdrew the United States from 55 different international organizations, most of them UN-affiliates, including the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the key node in the global climate circus. It will hardly be worth meeting any more if the climate cult doesn’t have the U.S. present to look upon with desire to loot, and to be sure a future Democratic president will almost certainly drag us back into it. But he/she will have to use up some political capital to do so.
But wait! It gets better. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which the Republican Congress finally defunded last year, has decided to fold up for good since it doesn’t have taxpayer loot to keep it afloat:
And the Washington Post approves:
• In light of events in Minneapolis, this is a good time to revive Chris Rock’s “educational video” on “How Not to Get Your Ass Kicked by the Police.”
• Marco Rubio can indeed do it all:
• Meanwhile, LA area readers might want to consider coming to this event in a couple weeks:
You can find the registration information here.
• Tweets of the week:
Ridiculous that this silly Tweet got 215K views. (But then I remembered the date, and it had “overthrow” in the text! Heh.)

Can't believe the Corporation for Public Broadcasting went belly up. After all, federal funding was only a little, tiny, miniscule, microscopic, nearly negligible -- I mean really small!!! -- portion of their funding. Or so they told us whenever anyone questioned paying taxpayer money for a left-wing outfit to promote its propaganda.
Really hoping Rubio attends next week's Greenland meeting with the Danes in that Napoleon getup.
